Music and Dance with the Erzgebirge-Ensemble
Every year during Advent, the Erzgebirg-Ensemble Aue takes you on a special journey into the Christmas Ore Mountains.
I associate many years of ballet and folk dance with the ensemble. As a member of the dance group in the 1980s, the 40 shows in November and December filled all my Advent afternoons and evenings.
The stage is then transformed into an atmospheric, snow-covered village of Ore Mountains, where cosiness and conviviality take over. The light of the swinging arches, pyramids and stars solemnly celebrates the sensuality of the festivities.
Musicians, singers and dancers present the repertoire of their ‘Arzgebirge’ art. Stories of the miners are sung and danced, the local Christmas carols are played, the typical brass sounds resound and the Russian horns present a unique rarity. At that time, the rattling of the clappers also brought a typical sound of Ore Mountain craftsmanship to the stage.
A special highlight is the freshly baked potato cake, which is cut on stage and distributed to the audience by the ensemble. Very tasty and much sought after! We passionately devoured the remaining pieces of cake backstage.
Decorated in Erzgebirge style, you will find yourself in a kind of cosy "Hutzenstub" and atmospheric Christmas market in the Kulturhaus Aue.

Many cities and rural areas of the GDR were given cultural centres that stand for leisure and entertainment. In many places, newly constructed or converted old buildings still bear architectural witness to the past and offer space for events and socialising. The Kulturhaus Aue "Ernst Thälmann", completed in 1958, presents itself in the guise of an original, typical facility.

Aue is located on the Silver Route along the main road from Zwickau to Dresden with all its places, sights and experiences related to silver mining. The popular Lichtlfest (Festival of Lights) in Schneeberg and the wonderful Christmas market in Schwarzenberg take place parallel to the Erzgebirge Christmas Aue.
